MADISON NEW WORKS LAB

JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY

At JMU, I have been actively engaged in Madison New Works Lab (MNWL), a new play development program.

Originally established under Dean Graciani's leadership, MNWL aims to bring professional writers to JMU for the development of new plays and musicals alongside our students, fostering relationships and connections between JMU faculty, students, and professional playwrights.

For MNWL, I directed Amanda Andrei's Black Sky in 2019, Alan Stewart's Of a Feather in 2022, Brandy Carie's How to Live Forever in 2023,  the musical Grief Tour by Maddie Kovach and Alica Daine Benning with Kate Arecchi with musical director and John Minigan’s Sarai’s Knife for the 2025 season.

Find our more about the Madison New Works Lab here https://www.jmu.edu/theatredance/experiences/madison-new-works-lab.shtml and consider submitting your work for next 2026 season. The application process opens in September 2025.
